The 2024 Low Carbon Transition Barometer is here!

Written by International team | Jan 2, 2025 10:39:39 AM

For three years, the Low Carbon Barometer has been shedding light on the practices, challenges, and solutions in the construction sector to meet climate goals.

As regulatory pressure intensifies with the introduction of the EU Taxonomy, CSRD, and EPBD at the European level, construction professionals must profoundly transform their practices. This third edition marks a turning point by taking on an international dimension: more than 270 professionals from 11 countries have shared their insights to analyze the key issues and practices of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) at a European scale.

Key data to understand the transition

This edition highlights the growing adoption of LCA tools and discussions around materials and construction methods, while underscoring the need for further progress:

  • 57% of professionals in France and 50% internationally report conducting building LCAs — a sign that, despite progress, nearly half remain uninvolved.
  • Over 95% of participants plan to increase their use of LCAs in the coming years, doubling their frequency on average within two years.
  • In France, 33% of respondents are looking for improvements in their LCA tools.
